David Couch graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas in 1972. He studied music education and double bass at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelors in Music Education and a Masters of Music on the double bass. He has taught orchestra in the Kent School District since 1983. During that time he has also freelanced as a substitute bassist with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Northwest Chamber Orchestra, 5th Avenue Theatre, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. He plays regularly with the Tacoma Symphony and the Auburn Symphony. He came to Kentridge High School in 2004. His wife Lisa is an educator in the Kent school district. His daughter is former KW student now working in the medical field. His son is currently a student at KR high school.They live in Renton with three dogs, Lucy, Sophie, and Tika, a cat Sara, and a bearded dragon, Ed.
