Uniforms:
Gentlemen - Black suit with shirt/tie, black socks/shoes
Ladies - Determined by group's ladies
Jazz Band meets daily at 6:35 A.M. Participation in the Jazz Band requires being enrolled in one of the other large ensemble music classes (i.e., Wind Ensemble, Charger Band, or 9th Grade Band). Rehearsals are held every day during the "0" hr. period. Auditions for the top band will be held in late spring.
The KR Jazz Band will participate in several home concerts, as well as performances at contests and festivals
"on the road" Additionally, we will be looking for "GIG" opportunities that could include traditional big band dances, etc.
Most Jazz charts require soloists who are improvising, and effective improvisation is crucial for a successful performance. Students who are interested in taking a leadership role in the band are encouraged to get private instruction for this very special, very specific skill.
