Victoria B.C. Trip Itinerary General Information Checklist

General Information

1.         Music stands are not provided for performances.  Please bring your own stand, marked with your name.

2.         We recommend that all students either exchange US currency for Canadian in advance,
or be prepared to use an ATM to avoid exorbitant fees.

3.         How much money?
Students will need to pay for 7 meals.  Some may choose to

bring a sack lunch for the first day, and we will always be near fast food or a

            supermarket.  $10/meal is recommended.

4.         Concert attire - for band is pep band shirt and anything on the bottom.
Parade attire - is pep band shirt, tan shorts (any shade and any length, but not too short), white

socks, any color of comfortable sneakers (preferably clean), and sunglasses.
In addition, bring a jacket or sweatshirt in case of cool weather.

5.         We recommend a smallish backpack for sightseeing days.

6.         We are staying at the Howard Johnson’s Hotel and Suites:

(250) 704-4656

4670 Elk Lake Drive

Victoria, BC

7.         We recommend that students bring a cell phone for emergency purposes only.  Some mobile phone rates are very expensive when “roaming” calls are made.

8.         Each student will be given a card with vital contact information printed on it.

We expect them to keep it with them in case of emergency.

9.         While touring Victoria, students will be required to be in groups of at least four.

They may be required to check in at certain times with their assigned chaperone.

10.       KSD/KRHS rules are in effect 24/7 on this trip.  Flagrant or repeated offenses may result in a student being sent home or having activities limited.  In such an event, a phone call to parents will be made, and any costs incurred to get student home will be the responsibility of his/her parents.

11.       We expect our students to set themselves apart from other groups with their mature and thoughtful behavior,
and by treating each and every person they meet with respect and courtesy.

12.       While in the hotel during “free” time, please wear appropriate and modest clothing.  While moving to and from the pool/spa, please wear something over your swim suit.

13.       When crossing the border all students are to stay seated and quiet.  If asked a question by a customs agent,
answer honestly and in a straightforward manner.  A badly timed attempt at humor could cause the process to be
protracted, resulting in much “ill will” expressed by fellow students at their first opportunity.
